Sound on Sound had a great pair of LA3As so I took a minute to talk about the difference in leveling amplifiers and compressors.

Here I am in studio B at The Power Station explaining the Blumlein microphone technique I am using to capture the strings in the room. Essentially 2 bi-polar patterns in an X-Y configuration giving us a stereo pickup of both the room and the strings.
